Preventing Ethical Leadership Failures
This course has researched much in the way of leaders who provide justification of their own actions, which may at times have been immoral. This assignment will study a more recent scandal, examining why the leaders insisted they did nothing wrong and what the underlying causes were.
Outside research is required (5 citations). Take all youve learned as well as additional research to create an investigation of leadership assessment and Plan-of-Action which prevents this type of scandal/breakdown from occurring again.
Step 1: Leadership Assessment
-Identify and describe the organization/scandal.
-Create an investigative assessment into leadership/leadership practices that you would have used, prior to the scandal and organization fall, to collect feedback from employees and stakeholders regarding how they feel about the current leadership and their management of the organization.
-The assessment must include at least 10 questions directly related to ethical leadership traits and/or practices.
-Questions reflect the research/text readings related to the topic of ethical leadership discussed throughout this course (a rating scale should be included for ease of data compilation)
Step 2: Plan-of-Action
-Create a Plan of Action (use the below as a guideline)
-Identify how leadership responsibility is determined within the organization?
-Who will be involved?
-Will leaders be able to justify (make exceptions) for their actions without having to
disclose these exceptions, or will they be held accountable?
The topics from the course should be well integrated into the plan.
-Identify a logical timeline for rolling out such a plan of ethical action polling, with the
intention of preventing leader failures.
-What type of professional development could be offered alongside of this questionnaire
and how would it be delivered? Keep in mind that the delivery method should support adult
learners.
-How will you assess the overall input from employees and stakeholders?
-If an issue does arise, how will you determine who was at fault? Where does the blame
fall?
Step 3: Essay
Write an essay of 2000-2250 words and address Steps 1 (completely) and 2 (expand upon suggestions to fit specific organizational needs). Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper. Make sure to reference five (5) citations using the APA writing style for each reference. Include a cover page and a reference page, which do not count towards the minimal word amount..
