SUMMARY OF THE WORK

There are 2 parts to the work over the weekend:
1. Reading responses (2) due September 9, at the beginning of class.
a. The reading responses will include three questions for the class about each
reading (6 questions total). We will use these questions to explore the
issues raised by the readings. {HOW SHOULD WE DOCUMENT/COLLECT?}
2. Two images, one for each reading, which raise a theoretical concern related to the
readings. One image should relate to the first reading. One image should relate to
the second reading by Harris. We will use these images to raise questions for our work
in relation to the readings. {HOW SHOULD WE DOCUMENT/COLLECT?}
a. Prepare an approximately 200 word reading response for these readings:

1. Define the big idea or central claim or claims
2. Summarize the important points or evidence the writer uses to
support those claims
3. Draw comparisons to other readings in your topic or similar
things you have read
4. Speculate on how this reading might influence an architectural
project.
5. List three questions related to the reading you want to pose
for discussion in class. We will use your questions to organize
our discussion.
a. Try to develop three different types of questions.
Such as:
i. A question about a fact or term you dont
understand or is unclear in the text.
ii. A question about a passage you dont
understand.
iii. A question that critiques or comments on a
problem or issue with the writers ideas or
work.
iv. Tips for compressing your reading notes 200 words:
1. Try to write one sentence for each point above (big idea,
important evidence, comparisons, influence); often that will
get you to 200 words.
2. Concision is a form of analysis and synthesis
