Signal detection theory

The goal of the assignment is to understand the concept of signal detection theory.

1. You should describe one situation (ex. a doctor is looking at an MRI picture to diagnose if a patient has a breast cancer tumor).

    – What is a signal in this situation? (The signal should have uncertainty).

          * The signal (stimulus) should be binary cases- Presence or Absence

          * The decision (response) should be binary- Yes or No

2. Apply the situation to SDT and describe four categories in SDT. 

          * Hit

          * False Alarm

          * Miss

          * Correct rejection

* Find an example in your everyday life.

* It is recommended to draw a table before writing the report. It’ll help you describe each category clearly.
