Response to discussion: GENETIC COUNSELING
COLLAPSE
This is what someone wrote in response to my discussion posted
It would be a very difficult situation as parents to have to undergo a termination of pregnancy on account of a prenatal diagnosis. As genetic disorders can impact generations of members within a family, this would have put these parents in an unfortunate situation. At some point, each family member will impact the lives of the other family members, and this must be kept in mind when dealing with situations similar to this couple (Kaakinen et al., 2018).
The experience this couple had in the past by losing relatives from cystic fibrosis-related complications heavily influenced their decision to not only terminate their pregnancy, but also in their decision to adopt a child. Utilizing family nursing principles in situations such as these is essential in our ability to provide appropriate care to patients and their families.
