PERSONAL ESSAY ASSIGNMENT SHEET
What am I doing?
This assignment has two parts:
Personal essay (minimum 750 words)- Using our readings from class as models, write a personal essay about a specific experience, theme, or memory from your life. Personal essays should be told from your point of view and in your own voice, use rich details to help the reader experience the story, and give the reader a takeaway about why this aspect of your life matters to you. You have a lot of freedom with this paper–enjoy the writing process!
Genre analysis- Analyze your own paper using the vocabulary from The Bedford Book of Genres chapters we read at the beginning of the semester (purpose, audience, rhetorical appeals, mode and media, common elements, style, design, sources).
