Global Policy Brief Presentations / Paper Directions And Rubric

Global Health (PBH.350)
Global Policy Brief Presentations / Paper Directions and Rubric

Directions: Each student or group will selected a problem in global health. It can be a problem that we discussed in class or something that we did not go over.

The paper should be 2 pages (double-spaced) long for each person working in the group. For example, if there are two people in the group, the paper should be between 4 to 6 pages. Presentations lengths will be assigned before the presentations.

Both the presentation and the paper should contain the following elements:

  1. Problem: Describe the global health problem you are proposing to confront. This section should answer the following questions:

    1. What is the problem?

    2. What are factors known to cause the problem?

    3. Where is the problem most prevalent?

    4. Has the prevalence of the problem changed over time? If so, what is believed to have impacted this changing prevalence?

  2. Existing Interventions: Describe what has been done to deal with the problem. This section should include:

    1. A description of interventions that have been tried.

    2. A description of where and when these interventions have been tried.

    3. An assessment of how effective these interventions have been. I encourage you to look for critical reviews of the intervention

  3. Proposed intervention: Based on your understanding of your chosen health problem you should propose a new strategy to confront the problem. This proposed strategy does not need to be completely original, but it should be something that has not been tested on a large scale to deal with your chosen health problem. For this section, you should:

    1. Describe your intervention.

    2. Explain when, where, and how it will be implemented.

    3. Propose how the intervention will be evaluated.
