This is what i wrote:
Human services are a critical component of the United States society (Bray, 2016). After watching the video, there were a lot of things that I have learned about the way they operate. Although I have not worked for a human services organization before, the video was an eye-opener on the importance of the services. More than 2 million people in New York live in poor neighborhoods (Bray, 2016). There are also more than 800,000 children that are living in the same neighborhoods. The human services have taken a holistic approach in dealing with vulnerable people. A human service worker who visits a home with a sick child will not only look at the health of the child but also at the condition that the family is living. It is important to develop trust among the vulnerable community for the people to be able to open up and share their challenges. A human service employee can only close a case if they are convinced that the family is Self-sufficient, confident, and able to meet needs independently.
Human services are tasked with a wide spectrum of duties such as Childcare, child welfare, mental health, and homelessness. Because a social worker will not be there forever, it is important to empower people and get them out of poverty. Some of the areas that human services operate are Senior centers, meals on wheels, HIV centers after school programs, recreation programs, and after-school programs (Bray, 2016). Although there have been cuts on the number of employees in these agencies, the organizations are still operating because of the important nature of their services. The failure to have this service will see a lot of people fall into despair.

Question 1, Reginal
After watching the video my conviction and passion for pursuing this degree were confirmed. My undergraduate degree is in physical education and sport and my goal with this pursuit is to develop leadership skills that will allow me to matriculate to the role of athletic director at the high school or college level. I want to make a difference in influencing the youth, and I consider that under the human service umbrella. I have never worked in the field but my long-term goal has always been to evolve into a social entrepreneur where I can make a profit and donate a percentage to social causes that are close to me.
When watching the video, because of limited funding, the social service that is provided should look at avenues outside the box. For example, there are large grocers who support nonprofits at the register, Wholefoods register fundraisers are popular with nonprofits and with good reason. The amount raised varies from store-to-store, but when you multiply the results across the country Whole Foods raises a lot of money for charities with register fundraisers (Waters, J. 2014). The main character is a mobile nurse providing on-site services for the inner city low-income population, which tells me she has created a bond with the community, which can lead to community fundraising.
The mobile nurse has built trust within the community with her commitment, ethics, and values, this leads to the involvement of a collaborative effort from volunteers and the community to contribute to the nurses and programs long-term sustainability. Fundraising projects the values of the total organization into the community whenever it seeks gifts to support. All aspects of governance-administration, program, and research development- are part of the whole (Tempel, E. R. 2016).

Question 2. Kenneth
After watching the video what did you learn about Human Services?
After watching the video on the Human Services Council, it only reminded me that Social Services along with Human Service Professional are necessary and important in advocating for the less fortunate in our society that express to be the richest country in the world; however, with the most recent catastrophic event known as COVID-19, hostile politics that seem to criminalize social issues like homelessness, immigration, separating families at the border, seem to make what this country says on the surface as being conscious to the human frailties seem to only be faced, especially with the pandemic causing people who never needed social support like unemployment has been difficult to obtain.
I have never worked in the field of human services; however, I have used the services of human service professionals in my lifetime.
I have never been involved in fundraising with any of my past employers, except as donating to a charity of my choosing on an annual basis such as the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC).
Advocating for long term funding with a combination of public donors and federal grants would help sustain a holistic program, especially when measuring the cost of emergency rooms cost vise providing other preventive maintenance to assist familys needs.
In closing, we must as human service students, professional always keep in the forefront Saint Leo University core value of Respect and Integrity in respecting others that we may come to serve in the future.
