Purpose: A goal in our course that we are going to tackle this week is identifying the conflicts and inequalities in our social structures and institutions. This week, we looked at the environment. The environment is very important, because without the care we need to give to it, our life ceases to exist. However, we are sacrificing it for profit on many levels; while it may not be us per se, our decisions often support the destruction of our planet. The damage we do to our planet disproportionately affects people of color. As part of this assignment, we’ll look at environmental racism in more detail.

After completing this assignment, you should be able to identify an example of environmental racism. You should be able to explain how it is environmental racism. Then, you should be able to discuss where it is happening, what is happening, and who it primarily effects. Finally, you should be able to provide information on whether someone is trying to find justice in this issue and what you think should be done to improve this issue.
