Core Training
One of the most valuable aspects of NASM’s OPT Model is that it gives the fitness professional a framework to classify, implement, and progress any exercise he or she may find.
For this week’s discussion, you will find and discuss one core exercise found outside of your textbook, on the Internet. First review the criteria for how core exercises should be chosen in each level of the OPT Model (Stabilization, Strength, and Power). Then upload a video of your chosen exercise and discuss what level(s) of the OPT Model it should be used in (if you are unable to video the exercise, you may include a link to an Internet video instead). Justify the reasoning for your chosen level. How could you regress this exercise for someone who can’t perform it properly? How could you progress it? What compensations or “cheats” might you find your client using to make it easier?
