Compare and contrast Goethe’s Faust, Part One with the two depictions of Don Juan which we have studied in this class (Moliere and Mozart). What is each author’s attitude toward love and romantic relationships as they are conducted by his protagonist? How can these different attitudes be explained by each writer’s cultural circumstances?
