Expanding upon your discussion in 1.2, research recent Supreme Court decisions regarding the state process of gerrymandering. Here, the Supreme Court decided not to become involved with individual states redistricting their electoral districts.

Your paper should include a review of the process which brought this case to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Additionally, present your opinion as to whether this was a good decision limiting federal authority and provide support for your positions.
REMEMBER: This is not supposed to be a paper reflecting your personal opinion about the issue itself. This is supposed to be a paper which discusses your opinion about whether the Supreme Court is the appropriate place to decide these issues or whether the Court should defer the issue by saying it is something best left to the States to decide. You can develop your reflection as to which side the Supreme Court will take by reviewing articles, reading past opinions on controversial issues, or studying the history of federalism in Supreme Court opinions
