analysis and evaluate a poem

1. make an annotated version of your poem that includes notes about your own interpretation and an explanation of the devices that contribute to the theme. (I will give a sample annotation for you)
2. Analyze the poem according to the questions:
Who is speaking in the poem? What is, literally, denotatively happening in the poem? Go through the poem, line by line, and circle any words you do not know, or that you think might be symbolic. Do you notice anything about where the poems lines break? Do you notice anything about the punctuation of the poem? How is the poems title significant? What do you think the poem is saying symbolically? What themes do you find when you reach the poems end?
