This project is to be a two-page paper, typed in 12-pt font and submitted via the dropbox. It should have at least 750 words. You may include lyrics if you wish, but they won’t count as part of your 750 words. Here are the parameters:

This project is similar to Project I, except that you must choose a song from a foreign country. That means a country that speaks a language other than English. That means, NOT Great Britain or Australia. It must be a song and a country not discussed in Chapter 5. IT CANNOT BE THE SONG DU HAST NOR THE SONG LA BAMBA. Why? Because everyone chooses those. Find something else! It must be a song that you like. Choose the song from the Online Music Library so that I can listen to it, too.
“Song” means that it is a human singing it, with words. An orchestral arrangement of a song does not count, although it may have an orchestral accompaniment. Do a little research on the song. Tell me what you found out.
Analyze the song in the manner of a listening chart. In other words, address the performing group, the language, the texture (monophonic, polyphonic, or homophonic), the voice(SAT or B), the accompaniment, the historical period, the genre, the composer, and anything else that you think is applicable or interesting. Also analyze the form: is it strophic, through-composed, ABA, etc?
Categorize your song according to the three types of song described on page 100.
Draw similarities to another country’s music with which you are similar.
Describe how the piece is different from typical American music.
Tell why you like the song. What do the songs we like reveal about us?
Use in your paper at least three applicable bold-faced terms you learned in Chapters 5. Make sure you make these BOLD in your paper so I can find them.
Give credit where credit is due. This is especially true if you quote something directly. You MUST put it in quotation marks and cite your source. Otherwise it is plagiarism, and highly frowned upon by your teacher.
YOU WILL BE DOCKED 5 POINTS EVERY TIME YOU SPELL PERFORM OR DEFINITELY WRONG. This is my pet peeve. Perform is NOT spelled PREFORM, and definitely is NOT spelled DEFIANTLY. Those are two different words.
