Managerial Skills

***** DocKamen you wrote Part -1 of this paper.

Part 2:  Action planning paper

In a minimum of four double-spaced pages,  prepare 3 goals related to your management skill development that you want to set for yourself in your management development.  Use your previously completed self-assessment as a starting point. You aren’t limited to the areas for improvement you described in your self-assessment – if you have new ideas based on your skill-building worksheets or other course material, you can write about those areas. For each goal:

Identify the goal and why it is important to you.
Use the SMART goal criteria.  Make sure your goal is specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely; in other words, be very specific.  What will it look like when you achieve it?  How will you know you’ve made progress, and how will you measure your progress?
Describe your reasoning for selecting it and support that with information from the assessments and skill-building worksheets
Identify specific steps you can take to make progress towards reaching your goal
Identify an anticipated time frame.
Focus on managerial skill development, not career progression or work goals.  Do not say “By this time next year, I want to be promoted to a management position.”  Instead, talk about what you will do or improve in your skills to position yourself to become a good manager.
